Current Xavier head coach, Chris Mack, is likely on his way out after a disappointing end to the Muskateers’ season. According to college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, barring something unforeseen, Mack will be the next head coach of the Louisville Cardinals.
Mack is 215-97 in nine years at Xavier, and has done a fantastic job building a winning program. However, it’s tough to pass up the opportunity to be the coach for a storied Cardinals program after Rick Pitino was fired in September of 2017 while they were under investigation. Mack will succeed interim head coach David Padgett.
It’s unclear who will replace Mack at Xavier, but it’s certainly a tough blow to a program already losing key players this off-season.
