Day one of the Big East Tournament brought bad weather, but great basketball. The first game was between old-time rivals, as the St. John’s Red Storm took on the Georgetown Hoyas, followed by Marquette vs. DePaul in a game that went down to the wire.
Georgetown center Jessie Govan did all he could to keep the Hoyas in the game tonight against the Red Storm, but St. John’s was just too good in the second half. The 6-10 junior finished with 28 points, two assists, and 11 rebounds.
We are hours away from the Big East Tournament kicking off at Madison Square Garden in the heart of New York City. For those of you that haven’t been paying attention, the Big East teams have been beating the life out of each other over the last month, and now it all comes down to a four-day tournament to see if anyone can steal the title or a bid to the Big Dance.
Tomorrow night, the Big East Tournament will be underway with two great games to kick off the action at the world’s most famous arena, and the nor’easter won’t be the only storm in town. I’ll be here all week, folks.
