It’s Dec. 19, and conference play is just 10 days away. We’ve learned a lot so far from the non-conference portion of the schedule, with plenty more to learn in the coming weeks. However, I have some questions and comments about what I’ve seen so far from the Big East.

It almost seems unfair that the Villanova Wildcats continue to replace talent with even more talent. Sure, Mikal Bridges, Jalen Brunson, and possibly Donte DiVincenzo are leaving. Yet, Villanova still has one of the strongest recruiting classes headlined by star point guard Jahvon Quinerly.
On February 14, at a pinked out Dunkin Donuts Center, the Providence Friars defeated Villanova, then the second ranked team in the nation. The Wildcats were stunned as the Providence student section stormed the court in celebration of the upset win.
Thursday nights session of the Big East Tournament quarterfinal round featured two marquee matchups in front of a sold out Madison Square Garden . The first matchup was between Villanova and Marquette, a game in which the Wildcats dominated the Golden Eagles. The second matchup was between Seton Hall and Butler, a game that came down to the wire as Butler held off Seton Hall.
We are hours away from the Big East Tournament kicking off at Madison Square Garden in the heart of New York City. For those of you that haven’t been paying attention, the Big East teams have been beating the life out of each other over the last month, and now it all comes down to a four-day tournament to see if anyone can steal the title or a bid to the Big Dance.
